Guidelines for Diabetic Care
On the first visit at SDC-
- A Medical history Sheet with queries on 65 parameters under the headings- Personal history, Life style, Family history, Past medical history, Medication history , Present Symptoms & chief complaints, previous Pathological findings & physical examination of the patient from head to toe is recorded very care fully. Time taken in this procedure is approximately 50-60 minutes.
- On over viewing all the complaints & history of the patient further advice for the needful investigations is given to the patient to evaluate the current status of the disease.
Then the prescription which includes-
- Anti Diabetic drug regime with herbal preparations & other required medication
- Life style correction
- Dietary recommendations
- Awareness literature on Diabetes
Is provided to the patient.
On the follow up visit-
- After 15 days Previous & present health status is compared.
- As per the progress in blood sugar level, symptoms & other physical examination parameters prescription is modified for further 15 days.
- After one month if the progress is stable than the dose of the medicine is gradually reduced with added herbal rejuvenation formulations.
- Then on monthly follow up visits suggestions for all the queries of the patient & family members are given along with this needful modification in drug & diet to improve general health & feeling of well being is also given.
IDDM
For the Patient on Insulin (IDDM)
In Type -1 diabetic on Insulin, herbal combinations are given with dose titration of insulin & the dose of the insulin is reduced after 6-8 months management with the cooperation of the patient, along with the improved quality of life & maintained sugar level.
If Type -2 diabetic is taking Insulin to maintain blood sugar level ,the dose of the insulin is reduced in initial 6-8 months management & with the cooperation of the patient it can be withdrawn gradually after this period with maintained blood sugar level patient can be switched over on oral medication (allopathic & herbal).
